  • What is a celebrant?
A celebrant is a person who is an expert in ritual and ceremony.  A celebrant will create a ceremony that reflects your needs, beliefs and tastes.  I have been trained and certified by the Celebrant Foundation USA located in Montclair, NJ and am ordained through the Universal Brotherhood Movement.  My ordination allows me to legally solemnize your wedding ceremony, I am not a pastor of a church.

  • What is the Celebrant USA Foundation and Institute?
The Celebrant USA Foundation & Institute is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to training professional Celebrants to officiate at personalized ceremonies marking the milestones and transitions in the lives of individuals, couples, families and organizations such as weddings, renewal of vows, commitments, coming of age, baby welcoming and adoptions, survivor tributes, graduations, retirements, birthdays, anniversaries, memorials, end of life celebrations, new dwellings, civic and corporate events and special occasions – or any moment in life that carries significant meaning for you.  The Celebrant’s mission is to create a ceremony that reflects your genuine needs, beliefs, philosophy of life, culture and ethnic backgrounds and values.

  • How is a celebrant different from a clergy person?
A celebrant accepts and works with people from all different walks of life.  A celebrant will work with you even if you’ve never darkened the doors of a specific church.  A celebrant will never judge you no matter what your path in life.  A celebrant will honor your individual wishes – be it bringing fishing poles to a ceremony or letting your 4-legged loved ones walk down the aisle with you.  Simply stated, you have the first, middle and last words on your ceremony.

  • How do you write a ceremony if you don’t know me or my loved one?
If you have called me to do a funeral or memorial service, I gather your story through a personal or phone interview.  I ask questions – but most importantly, I ask the right questions, and I really listen to your answers.

For couples wanting to get married, I ask that both the bride and groom complete a written questionnaire.  This is an in-depth worksheet that will help me to get to know you and understand exactly what you are both looking for in your ceremony.  The questions are non-threatening, in fact, most couples find them to be a lot of fun (and a lot of work – I won’t lie).
  • How much does a celebrant service cost?
A celebrant service costs a little more than a clergy officiated service, but I promise, I won’t break the bank.  A celebrant service is one that reflects you and your loved one.  Do you want to give out Chex Mix to honor your mom?  Do you want an Ozzie Osborne song to set the tone?  Do you want your ceremony to be one that reflects who you are, not the rest of the world?

  • Do I have unlimited time with you to plan my service?
YES you do!  With my services you can call me as many times as you wish to ensure that the words that I speak are YOUR words.  My goal is to make sure that you and your families wishes are carried out.

  • Why should I choose a celebrant over someone else?
Because as a celebrant I am committed to a very strict sent of ethics and because I understand that this is THE MOST IMPORTANT CEREMONY in your life.  A celebrant will never minimize your feelings or your wishes.  A celebrant will listen, create and carry out your wishes in EVERY ceremony we do.
